Reconstructing Small Perturbations of Scatterers from Electric or Acoustic Far-Field Measurements

چکیده
In this paper we consider the problem of determining the boundary perturbations of an object from far-field electric or acoustic measurements. Assuming that the unknown scatterer boundary is a small perturbation of a circle, we develop a linearized relation between the far-field data and the shape of the object. This relation is used to find the Fourier coefficients of the perturbation of the shape. Mathematics subject classification (MSC2000): 35R30

Direct and Inverse Acoustic Scattering by a Collection of Extended and Point-Like Scatterers
This paper concerns the acoustic scattering by an extended obstacle surrounded by point-like obstacles. The extended obstacle is supposed to be rigid, while the point-like obstacles are modeled by point perturbations of the exterior Laplacian. In the first part, we consider the forward problem. Following two equivalent approaches (the Foldy formal method and the Krein resolvent method), we show...
متن کاملRecovering complex elastic scatterers by a single far-field pattern
We consider the inverse scattering problem of reconstructing multiple impenetrable bodies embedded in an unbounded, homogeneous and isotropic elastic medium. The inverse problem is nonlinear and ill-posed. Our study is conducted in an extremely general and practical setting: the number of scatterers is unknown in advance; and each scatterer could be either a rigid body or a cavity which is not ...
متن کاملLocating Multiple Multiscale Acoustic Scatterers
We develop three inverse scattering schemes for locating multiple multiscale acoustic scatterers in a very general and practical setting. For all of the three locating schemes, only one single far-field measurement is used. The number of the multiple scatterer components may be unknown, and each scatterer component is allowed to be an inhomogeneous medium with an unknown content or an impenetra...
متن کاملSelective focusing on small scatterers in acoustic waveguides using time reversal mirrors
We investigate the acoustic selective focusing properties of time reversal in a two-dimensional acoustic waveguide. A far-field model of the problem is proposed in the time-harmonic case. In order to tackle the question of selective focusing, we derive an asymptotic model for small scatterers. We show that in the framework of this limit problem, approximate eigenvectors of the time reversal ope...
متن کاملThe no response test - a sampling method for for inverse scattering problems
We describe a novel technique, which we call the no response test, to locate the support of a scatterer from knowledge of a far-field pattern of a scattered acoustic wave. The method uses a set of sampling surfaces and a special test response to detect the support of a scatterer without a priori knowledge of the physical properties of the scatterer. Specifically, the method does not depend on i...
